the road outside boston...sept. 1991

there i was...going for a walk just outside boston...suddenly i feel a thud...like a rock falling...just in front of me...i turn to my right...look into an open field...and see the glowing outline of a man...he has a rock in his hand and he is smashing open the head of another who is lying motionless on the ground...it is some type of spiritual apparition...but it is as real as anything i have ever seen...within seconds...a car swerves to the side of the road to hit me...i jump into the ditch...then all goes back to normal .

bigfoot

i have never seen big foot...nor have i smelled one...but i will tell you this...in the summer of 1993...i was hiking through a meadow and i came across a black bear...not just any black bear...but one who's energy distinctly  reminded me of a spirit i encountered-neither evil or good , as far as i could tell-in western nova scotia the summer before...another interesting thing about this bear...(who completely ignored my presence , by the way)...is that the picture i took of him...could not be developed...that  is , there was no bear in my pictures at all .

back to big foot...us being a species quite familiar with monkeys and humans...it makes it somewhat easy to perceive the manifestation of a spiritual creature in such a way...(you know , basically like us)...now , i am not saying that the big foot creature is not flesh and bones...it probably is in one way or another...all i am saying here...is that there is nothing like a human being to perceive things in the way that makes him most comfortable...in the words of paul simon..."a man sees what he wants to see / and disregards the rest".

i was looking through the christian movie selection of some organization or another...and i came across a listing of a movie about some fucking pedophile priest...i was thinking to my self...fuck...technically , i guess this is a christian movie...just like in the same way "jaws" is a movie about fine dining...(you know , how the shark ate people and all)...i mean , things can be exactly what you want them to be...right??? maybe godzilla is a documentary on sexual frustration...maybe rhodan is not an enemy at all...but a colleague of neurotic behaviors...each one representing an unmet need , and deeper than the one before...life is so fucking complicated .     

seeing in front of you

...so i am going for a walk and i see this lady with a baby carriage across the street...for whatever reason...my intuition tells me that , regardless of how this appears , there is , in fact...no baby in the carriage...so i cross the street...take a look...and sure enough...there is no baby...INSTEAD...however...i see a cat...all nestled in and content...under the covers...i walk away...thinking to myself..."self...things are not always the way they appear...in fact...things are hardly ever the way they appear"...and the cat lady walks off into the distance .

have you ever noticed that a church service is very much like the act of sex??? the rituals are like dating and or foreplay...the sermon is like making love...and the benediction is like lighting up a cigarette...other similarities : both can simulate intimacy without necessarily having it...both can attempt to reinforce ones self worth...or destroy ones self esteem...both can pretend it is about another...which may or may not be the case...there forces greater than you involved...(procreation and god)...and both can lead you into nakedness and transparency...yet both can become complete and utter hiding  places...in essence...people worship god like they have intercourse...and this can be a beautiful thing...or a perverse thing...but let's face it...for the majority...religion and sex...are ways of hiding and escaping...right???

there is potentially a cancer in our relationships...potentially in ourselves...we avoid it with : fear / laziness / materialism / timing / politeness...yet..."god chastises those he loves"...and brings all to the surface...here we find three options : learn / hide / allow it to destroy us...(that is to say...allow what we think and feel to actually materialize in our every day situations)...the point here is not necessarily obvious...it is not so much our actions-within reason-that are out to murder our souls...nearly as much as it is the motivations behind them...religion teaches us the opposite...that they will indeed define our worth as a human being...the fact of the matter is that actions are simply actions...good or bad...they almost all get lost in the wind of time...yet a pure heart with sincere motives...is in sync with eternity ...a very rare occurrence indeed...and to possess such a thing and to fuck up...is far better than containing your moral composure and be dead within .
