  recently...i heard a story of how a cat killed a crow and made his way back inside his house...next day...when he was let outside...there were 30 crows waiting to pounce...violence aside...this is a clear example of organic community.

  so...this company hired a community development specialist to put on a weekend retreat and figure out who was the "shit disturber"...sure enough...half way through ..."problem child"...blew up all over the place and the "cat was out of the bag"...problem solved , eh??? nope...the issue is...only the symptom had been dealt with...why someone got into position to usurp the company was still a mystery...there is a difference between looking smart and truly directing others into health.

  i have had the opportunity to spend time with some of the most esteemed community builders in the world...and they all had one thing in common...they didnt know what they were doing...sure...learning how to manipulate and control people can be made into quite the art form...but it is not community...and when truth rears its ugly head...things will indeed fall apart...the ingredients to real community are transparency...pain...humility...selflessness and passion...it is a long , ugly journey...and if someone tells you different...they are wrong.
